When is the iPhone 18 coming out?
Apple split its 2026 launch. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arrived in September 2026, but the standard iPhone 18 was not part of that announcement. Several reports say the base iPhone 18 and an iPhone 18e are expected in the first half of 2027. Apple has not confirmed this.
Is there a foldable iPhone?
Apple's first foldable iPhone, reported as the "iPhone Duo", appears on Apple's iOS 27 compatibility list, but South African pricing and availability have not been confirmed. We will add it here when they are.
Why was there no iPhone 9?
Apple jumped from the iPhone 8 straight to the iPhone X in 2017 to mark the iPhone's 10th anniversary ("X" is the Roman numeral for ten). The iPhone XR, XS and XS Max followed, and Apple returned to numbers with the iPhone 11.
How long are iPhones supported?
iOS 27 (released 14 September 2026) supports the iPhone 11 and newer plus the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). The iPhone XR, XS and XS Max stopped at iOS 18; the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X stopped at iOS 16.
